About the Graduate Studies Department

The Graduate Studies and International Cooperation Department was first created as a School of Graduates by the Rectoral Resolution Nº 0660/1980 and its first regulations were approved by the Resolution Nº 181/1985.

Afterwards, by the Resolution Nº 076/1988, new regulations were approved and its name changed to School of Graduate Studies. Currently, by Resolution U.H.C. Nº 264/2009 it has become a university department. Today, 26 years after its creation, the department offers 22 graduate careers (specialization programs, master’s degrees and doctorates), 12 Higher Diploma Courses and it has an important number of graduated students.

The National University of Rio Cuarto as a setting of creation, transmission and dissemination of knowledge has permanent challenges regarding its quality and relevance. Therefore, the Graduate Courses are a strategic tool to meet those challenges.

The challenges and vertiginousness of the current world demand of our professionals continuous updating. The University is very much involved in this process and prioritizes the securing and consolidation of its Graduate programs.

As a result we claim that the academic training provided by the Graduate programs continuously improves its quality, provides a better coordination with the professional world, and allows foreign exchanges, regional integration, the training of formers and interdisciplinary approaches.

Through this Department, the National University of Rio Cuarto takes part in International Cooperation programs. They contribute to the establishment of Inter-institutional Communication Networks that aim at strengthening the educational work and contributing to the heritage of knowledge through academic communication and interaction.

The increasing collaboration with Foreign and National Universities has become especially significant in the international cooperation circuit. In addition to this growing importance, the management abilities achieved by the personnel in charge of cooperation in each organization and their role in the development of the country contribute to the realization of the department’s objectives.

The Graduate Studies and International Cooperation Department is currently integrated by a Secretary, an Undersecretary, an Academic Council conformed by a representative of each Academic Unit, a Graduate Studies Department, an International Cooperation Department and a Technical-Administrative Department.

The Graduate research projects developed by the Academic Units are approved by the University High Council after being evaluated by external authorities and the Graduate Studies and International Cooperation Department.

The graduate courses are integrally projected, following curricular cores and a system of credits, with their time equivalences for courses, seminars, monographs, dissertations, etc., and they are evaluated by an Academic Board and an Academic Advisor.

The teaching body of each course is carefully selected in accordance to their academic and scientific background, and is integrated by teachers of the National University of Rio Cuarto as well as external teachers from national and international institutions.

International Cooperation

The Graduate Studies and International Cooperation Department of the National University of Rio Cuarto participates in the area of International Cooperation. This area contributes to the establishment of Inter-institutional Communication Networks with the aim of strengthening the educational work and contributing to the creation of knowledge through academic contact and interaction.
