Student Mobility

The National University of Rio Cuarto aims at transcending national borders and being able to integrate itself in the international context. Its policy is oriented towards the internationalization of activities for which it has designed a plan directed at the promotion of Graduate and Undergraduate Students and Teachers Mobility and Exchange, offering Academic and Research Activities, Infrastructure and the necessary services to assist foreign visitors.Graduate courses at the University are completely free of charge; the students’ admissions system is free and unrestricted for both Argentinean and foreign students.

About the UNRC

The National University of Rio Cuarto (UNRC) is a public entity, an academic institution and a work community part of the national public system of higher education. The University sustains the idea that education is a tacit social right that guaranties the full exercise of citizenship in the context of social democracy.

The University Campus

The campus consists of 165 ha (407,72 acres) located at 6 km (3,73 miles) from the center of the city of Rio Cuarto and it is surrounded by 1.445 ha (3.570,67 acres) of experimental fields and diverse cultural practices.
The campus is located in a beautiful natural landscape standing at the Rio Cuarto riverbank, with 70.000 m2 (753.473 ft²) of modern buildings that house spacious classrooms, laboratories and research facilities, practical administrative offices, teachers and students residences, sports facilities and meeting rooms and events halls.Several bus lines that run through the most important points of the city of Rio Cuarto and nearby localities converge on the campus with high frequency. In addition, the campus provides taxi and remís (hire cars) services 24 hrs a day.

The National University of Rio Cuarto offers Graduate Courses (Doctorates, Master’s and Specializations) structured around its five Faculties and the Graduate Studies Department.

Research Projects

The University Community

The University holds around 20.000 undergraduate students and 700 graduate students, with an annual admission of about 4.000 students. Its Human Resources are composed by 1.800 teachers and 528 administrative and technical employees.

University Student Residences

The University Student Residences started as a project between the National University of Rio Cuarto, 50 Townships and 35 Cooperatives of the region with the aim of providing inexpensive and comfortable accommodation for students near the university campus. Up to date, there exist 301 beds to accommodate students of 130 nearby towns and cities. In addition to this, there are 115 beds to accommodate regular students and students with scholarships.

The Residences are made up of apartments with two bedrooms, a kitchen and a bathroom to accommodate four students. They are furnished and equipped with home implements and include gas heating, water heater and gas and electricity services. The apartments are connected by a green space with public lighting and are protected by an intern security service. The premises include a multi-purpose room where the students can carry out different free time activities.

The Residences neighborhood is situated within the University Campus and is connected with an external street where students can make use of the local bus service that connects the neighborhood with the locality of Las Higueras and the city of Rio Cuarto.

 

University Canteen

The University Canteen offers a daily menu elaborated by a Nutritionist, at a cost of $3 for students and $10 for the rest of the community. Currently, the menu is daily accessed by about 400 and 450 users, including students with scholarships. In addition, the canteen has a cafeteria and a quick meals service as well as a self-service shop for salads, cold meals, pastries, sandwiches and sodas.

Students’ Health Care Service

The University’s Health Care Service is in charge of professional medical personnel, who have the responsibility of directing, coordinating and implementing the institution’s health care policy. Furthermore, the service has medical and administrative units managed by the non-teaching permanent staff of the University.
